List of Known iOS 8.4.1 Problems Affecting iPhone / iPad Users

Last updated: August 21, 2015 at 23:37 pm

Having used iOS 8.4.1 firmware for sometime now (get iOS 8.4.1 IPSW files), and seeing the reaction of Apple users (negative reaction mostly), we decided to create this post to list all the common problems of iOS 8.4.1.

Some of these problems are not extreme, but we will still list them in case you are experiencing it on your iPhone or iPad.

Problems With iOS 8.4.1

Problem #1: WiFi Disconnection.

Easily the biggest problem of all. I mean: If you are browsing through Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and what will happen with the WiFi connection disconnects? Such unexpected WiFi issues has been the number one problem with iOS 8.4.1.

Solution to this is to reset the network or change the DNS addresses.

Problem #2: Battery Drain

What can we say? Every iOS 8 update has had this problem. The thing is, it completely depends on your device. Some will tell you that iOS 8.2 had the worst battery problems, while others on their older iPhones and iPads believe iOS 8.4 consumed less battery / power.

But yes, with iOS 8.4.1, everyone is talking about the massive consumption of battery and the juice doesn’t even last for a day even with 4G/3G is turned OFF.

Solution to this is to wait for another Apple update, which will happen next month in the form of iOS 9.

Problem #3: No Jailbreak

Love jailbreaking your iPhone and iPad? You know iOS 8.4.1 doesn’t let you do that. And this has left many users angry.

In fact, it’s been told that Apple has released this update to stop users from jailbreaking.

Solution to this is to downgrade from iOS 8.4.1 to iOS 8.4.

Problem #4: iTunes Match Bug

Tracks you have uploaded to iTunes Match are not accessible on the device anymore. I don’t have any personal experience with this, but going through several other forums, I notice this is a massive problem.

One user says: “If we cannot access the uploaded music, let’s really switch to Android.”

Solution to this is, well, just to wait and see if Apple fixes it (which they will) in the next update.

Problem #5: Missing Shuffle Button

On every iOS 8 firmware, except iOS 8.4 and iOS 8.4.1, many users shuffled their song collections with a couple of taps. Now, it is almost impossible as the shuffle button has been located (or let’s say: misplaced) somewhere else on your screen.

If this wasn’t enough, the Shake To Shuffle feature has also been removed.

Solution to this is provided in our earlier article explaining the right way to shuffle songs in your iOS Music app (and this solution will require you to learn the “new” way to shuffle. I know, not exactly the fix we need).

Over to you:

We have discussed the top 5 problems iOS users are facing on iOS 8.4.1 and showed you the solutions to each one of them.

Sure, we run into the occasional icon disappearing and “this accessory may not be supported” problems – but as Apple fans, we can only hope that going forward everything will be solved.

So dear readers, over to you: What are the most common problems you are dealing with right now on your iPhone and iPad? Share them through the comment section below.

I use an app for streaming an FM Radio Station (Melbourne, Australia). 8.3. Worked fine. Only dropped out in very poor coverage areas. 8.4.1. Can’t get more than 30 secs. of broadcast before it drops out. Press pause, then play. Reconnects immediately then drops out again in a few seconds. App is now useless. Looking for a small FM receiver now.
