Apple Resumes iOS 8 File Download Even If It’s Paused or Partially Download

Last updated: September 18, 2014 at 14:14 pm

Do you have an incompletely downloaded iOS 8 file? Or have you paused the download? Not to worry, as Apple now allows you to resume the iOS 8.0 download.

Is this surprising? For us, it really is.

Last year, when we tried to download IPSW files of iOS 7 and failed at it, we had to start afresh. Apple servers were really slowing down the download speed.

And this year, with iOS 8 firmware, we expected Apple’s server to stop us from downloading iOS 8 files. In fact, it did stop us with a message saying: Update Requested and Preparing Update.

iOS 8 just wouldn’t download via OTA update.

So we used another installation method: we searched for the IPSW files of final iOS 8.0 version and downloaded them through the Apple server.

The filesize of iOS 8 was huge, at about 1.6GB.

Our slow internet connection at the office did not help.

Check this out: We were downloading iOS 8 files at 50 KB/sec. To completely download this file, we had to wait for 8 hours. So what did we do?

We waited.

And waited more.

It finally happened. What happened?

Power cut. Our worst enemy.

We knew it ruined our partially downloaded iOS 8 file. In fact, we were close to 70% of the full iOS 8 download, and power cut was the last thing we wanted.

Just like no one wants a melted ice cream, we didn’t want a broken or partially downloaded iOS 8 file. It is just a waste of our time.

And this power cut didn’t even last longer. In 10 seconds, all the computers were up and running with the help of electric generators.

Long story short, we turned ON our Mac computer and went right into the download section of our Firefox browser. Here is where the IPSW file “Failed” to download.

A simple right-click and we started downloading iOS 8 files from where we left off.

It’s such a simple thing, yet so important for many of us. Many folks in schools, colleges, and offices can download iOS 8 files, even with a slow internet connection, and pause it.

No need to wait for iOS 8 to download in one shot.

Now, with this pause option, you can resume download the next day or even next week.

Well I am glad it worked for you, it does not for me. I’m in Afghanistan (from the states) and on satellite internet which takes forever. Also when I try to use 3g which get’s about 2-300 kb down it still comes to me very slow from the server, like 20kb so at this point I’m trying to find a download manager or torrent which I can’t find. How the hell is there not a torrent?? My ios 8 gm is going to expire and brick my phone in oct.

Torrent links are available. Just can’t post them here. Can send you links, if that helps.
