Apple September Event Highlight: Two New iPhones, iOS 8 Details, And Apple Watch

Here is the complete summary of the latest Apple live event held this year. You will notice that we have condensed the information and shared with you what is absolutely important.

Complete Apple Event (September 2014) Highlights

Apple introduced four new products and services:

Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Summary:

  • The new iPhones (2014 model) are named iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
  • The iPhone 6 is 4.7 inch in size, while the iPhone 6 Plus is 5.5 inch.
  • Both the devices have power button on the right (all the older iPhone models had the power button on the top).
  • New A8 chip has been added to these devices. A8 is smaller, faster, and 50% energy efficient in comparison with A7 chip.
  • Battery life has been improved, especially on iPhone 6 Plus that comes with a larger screen size.
  • Due to the larger screen, Apple has introduced a new mode where you can use the device with only one hand. In this mode, the complete screen shrinks to half the size.
  • Making calls over LTE internet is now possible with VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) feature.
  • WiFi calling can be activated on both iPhones. (for T-Mobile US and EE)
  • The iPhone 6 is 6.8mm thin and the new iPhone 6 Plus is 7.1mm thin.
  • Camera has been improved, although the megapixels are the same. Both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have 8MP camera.
  • Next-generation M8 motion coprocessor is now added. It is designer for fitness.
  • Cases are available to protect the devices. Currently, there are two iPhone cases, each made of leather and silicone.
  • Preordering of iPhones starts from September 12th (2014) and shipping of the devices will begin on 19th of the same month.

Apple Pay Summary:

  • Apple Pay is a new service that allows you to pay for your shopping needs. You can pay via NFC.
  • Works with the latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
  • Normal shopping requires you to give your Credit Card to the cashier, who has the ability to look at the numbers. With Apple Pay, no one will get to see the information of your credit card number, name, and even address.
  • Payments can be removed if you lose your Apple iPhone.
  • Apple has worked with 220,000 merchants in the USA. You can visit any store to pay via Apple Pay through your Apple iPhone.

Apple Watch Summary:

  • Apple’s first watch launch with a Retina display.
  • Watch has a stainless steel and is coated with sapphire.
  • Two Apple watches can share information by tapping or drawing on the screen.
  • Apple watch has a S1 chip — a new chip made specially for wrist watches.
  • Touching and scrolling is easier with a “digital crown” that is on the right side of the watch.
  • Apple watch is compatible with Apple Pay, so you can pay with your watch anytime.
  • Apple watch works with the following devices: iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
  • One can use this device as a fitness tool as Apple watch offers free fitness and health suggestion through its native app.
  • Siri is available in every Apple watch.
  • Pricing of Apple watch starts at $349 in the USA.
  • Watches will be available for sale starting 2015.
