Stock Apple Apps Goes Blank / Shows White Screen in iOS 8.4.1

After upgrading your iPhone / iPad to IOS 8.4.1 firmware, you may notice several problems with the native Apple apps like Podcast, App Store, iTunes so on.

When you open these stock apps, all you get is a blank, white screen that keeps loading forever. In fact, it is a class case of apps freezing forever.

We saw this white screen appearing as we launched the Podcast app, but never bothered to explore why. We thought it must be our slow WiFi connection causing this issue, until some Apple users starting posting in the forum.

One particular user said:

Whenever I try to open App Store, the screen is blank even if you are selecting Featured, Top Charts, Explore, and Search. I can only access the Updates app section. Nothing else.

Another iOS user said:

I cannot access Apple Music and iTunes app anymore. It shows me a blank screen on my iPhone 6 Plus. Someone please talk to Apple!

Unfortunately, we couldn’t replicate this problem, but here are some common solutions we can recommend for anyone facing the blank screen issue after updating their devices to iOS 8.4.1.

Solution #1: Restart your device. Just make sure you have closed all the apps from the background, after which you have to reboot your iPhone / iPad.

Solution #2: Do a hard reset. Note that it is important to take the backup of your data via iTunes. And once that is done, we recommend you to perform a hard reset on your device as it pumps a new life into your iPhone / iPad.

Solution #3: Check the server status. Because all the stock Apple apps that shows blank screen are web-based. Notes app, Reminder app, and etc. are working just fine, but the web-based Apple app? They are not.

So it is important to check the server status. For ex: In June, App Store was down and that left users with no option but to wait for Apple to fix it.

Solution #4: Change your connection. Apple iOS 8 supports 2G connection, but we all know it’s incredibly slow. And if on WiFi connection, you still get the white screen, we recommend you to switch to 3G/4G/LTE connection.

Do let us know any solution that has worked for you and we will update this article.
